Plan, test and approve traffic signals – in one environment
CROSSIG is the planning workstation for traffic signals: junction geometry, intergreen times, signal programmes, control logic, test bench and simulation in one continuous environment.
Features
The whole planning process, without switching tools
From junction geometry and control logic to documented approval – CROSSIG covers the whole process instead of splitting it across isolated tools.
Project management
All installations in one overview – organised by inventory, with author, date and planning status.
Junction
Capture geometry, assign signal groups, determine conflict points automatically – on a GIS background.
Intergreen times
Traceable calculation according to RiLSA and international guidelines – for all conflicting pairs of signal groups.
Signal programmes
Signal timing plans, stage transitions and freely definable signal sequences – graphical and verifiable.
Coordination
Define networks and design green waves, for fixed-time as well as traffic-actuated control.
openTRELAN
Design logic plans according to RiLSA graphically – the source code of the control is generated from them.
Test bench
Test the finished control with TRENDS – exactly as it runs in the controller. The installation adopts new logic during operation.
Simulation
Realistic traffic based on IIDM with public transport, pedestrians and cyclists – test C-ITS and assess scenarios without expensive add-on software.
Interfaces
OCIT, VISSIM, SUMO, MAP and C-CALL – data goes to the control centre, simulation and cooperative services without rework.
Licensing
Two editions, transparent pricing
Annual subscription with all updates and support from the developers. You don't have to call us first to find out what CROSSIG costs.

What's new
CROSSIG grows beyond signal planning: microscopic simulation shows the junction in live traffic. Release 7.1 in winter 2026 adds unsignalised junctions and roundabouts.
New
Microscopic simulation
CROSSIG now simulates the junction itself – with realistic vehicle movements based on the Improved Intelligent Driver Model (IIDM), with public transport, pedestrians and cyclists. C-ITS functions such as CAM or SSEM/SREM can be tested directly, and the scenario manager assesses every scenario – without expensive add-on software.
New
Full C-CALL support
Public transport priority via C-CALL – end to end, from the check-in via the intervention logic to the documentation. And before the first bus runs, the simulation shows how the priority works at the junction.

Unsignalised junctions
Junctions without traffic signals can soon be planned and assessed for capacity just like signalised ones. CROSSIG then also answers the question at the start of every planning job: does this junction need traffic signals at all?
Coming soon · Release 7.1 · Winter 2026
Roundabouts
Planning and capacity calculation of roundabouts – including variants with bypass and partially signalised approach. The comparison between roundabout and traffic signals can then be calculated in the same tool instead of spreading it over two programs.
Coming soon · Release 7.2 · Spring 2027
C-ITS: SPATEM and MAPEM
The traffic signal tells cooperative vehicles its signal phases and remaining times (SPATEM) and the topology of the junction (MAPEM). CROSSIG generates both messages from the planning and shows in the simulation how they work – for example with the green wave or the time-to-green display in the vehicle.

Microscopic simulation of networks
CROSSIG also simulates your planned junctions within the network. The network editor combines the junctions into a network mesh, and the links between them are modelled true to reality. Origin-destination relations are derived automatically from the traffic load variants of the individual junctions. This allows coordination, adaptive control and C-ITS functions to be tested and assessed realistically.
